so little gained

so little gained from a burned flesh
a scared memory one not easily forgotten
it's better they say to have this momento
but sometimes I wish it would just fade

a silver lining to those who have it all
those without have no such positeve recollections
only ghosts that say "this is what might have been"
and a present that motivates the nostalgic

A seared mark takes on more meaning they say,
a leason your supposed to learn
but I look further down the line and begin to wonder
About all these other burns

I say to general concensus, "what was the point of these?
If a lesson learned is what was intended by these burns,
How come I suffer still continuessly?"
because you have not learned.
